Scheme of Curriculum and Subjects

SCHEME OF CURRICULUM AND SUBJECTS

The school has four sections: Foundational Stage (Pre- KG to Grade II, Preparatory Stages (Grades III to V), Middle stage (Grades VI & VIII).

Foundational Stage (Pre KG - Grade II):

At the foundational Stage, we will be covering 3 years of early education namely, Nursery, LKG & UKG and the 2 years of grade I & II. It formally initiates the early childhood care and education (ECCE) into the education system with a recommended informal, flexible, multilevel, play/activity-based instructional approach that predominantly pays attention to domain-based learning outcomes, informal assessments by way of observations, indue of healthy habits for life and positive socialization of the young learners with the other children of the class.

Following is the Schema of Subjects taught at the Foundational level:

English. Tamil, English, Mathematics, EVS, General Science, Social Studies, Art Education, Computer, Physical & Health Education, 3rd language (in Grades III to V – Hindi ) General Awareness, Drawing, Art Education.

Preparatory Stage (Grades III – V):

This stage stipulates a more formal, at the same time an interactive classroom teaching process in the preparatory years through play, discovery and activity-based pedagogy. A structured subject-wise curriculum will formulate the strong academic foundations at this stage by way of teaching of languages, science, and mathematics and holistic development through inclusion of art and physical education etc.

Middle Stage (Grades VI to VIII)

In this phase of schooling, as per NEP 2020, KIS talks of well trained and expertised faculty, namely we trained subject-wise teachers for learning abstract concepts in sciences, mathematics, social sciences. We at KIS recommend a hands-on experiential learning approach for conceptual understanding, also facilitating the learners to learn through exploration and experience the concepts across disciplines for holistic understanding.

Following is the Schema of Subjects taught at the Middle level:

Secondary Stage (Grade IX & XII)

Secondary Stage (4yrs)- will include the classes IX to XII in two phases, IX and X in the first phase and XI and XII in the second phase.

This is the most crucial academic reorganizing the learners’ life desire by giving them wider flexibility cum choice of subjects in deciding their career predilections at the secondary stage.

Following is the Schema of Subjects taught at the Middle level:

English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, Accountancy, Computer Science, Geography, History, Pol. Sc, Phy Edu, Sociology.
